Rachael Rays
roots stem from the specialty food retail business, which she was drawn to after
growing up in her familys many restaurants and working all aspects of the
foodservice trade. It was during her position as food buyer at the Cowan & Lobel
gourmet market in Albany that Rachael developed her now famous 30-Minute Meals
concept as a fun cooking class that would increase grocery sales.
The local CBS
news station signed Rachael on to do a weekly 30-Minute Meals segment and
companion cookbook - and with that a franchise was born!
Rachaels
background in specialty food retailing and passion for delicious, no fuss meals
created with pantry essentials prompted her to put her stamp on a signature food
line. Credited with landing the phrase EVOO (short for extra virgin olive oil)
in the dictionary, it was only natural for
Rachael to partner with Colavita to launch her very own
Rachael Ray All-Italian EVOO in 2006.
This successful
collaboration between Rachael and Colavita continues, with a line extension that
includes imported Italian Balsamic Vinegars and All-Natural Stocks.
